This course is being offered to current law enforcement only.

All students will be subject to minimum proficiency requirements to include demonstration of safe handling of firearms. Tuition must be paid in advance and is non-refundable. Registration for firearms training is open to active law enforcement only. All others must seek approval prior to registration. Please email stormtraininggroup@gmail.com for prior authorization.

The goal of this course is to enable an officer to effectively perform in the role of a sniper in a law enforcement special operations unit by possessing the ability to engage threats with precision rifle fire and advise unit commanders of sniper capabilities within a given mission.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Perform proper storage and care of rifle
  • Explain circumstances that justify the use of deadly force by police officers
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of their precision rifle and all mission essential sniper gear
  • Understand rifle ballistics and how variables will affect a shot
  • Demonstrate the ability to group and zero their rifle and engage targets at all distances out to 600yds/m utilizing a variety of shooting positions
  • Move undetected under observation to an objective, utilizing proper camouflage, cover and concealment
  • Select location of firing/observation position and construct a hide site in urban and rural settings

PROFICIENCY TESTING

  • Demonstrate how to group, zero and construct ballistics table for their given rifle and ammunition.
  • Exercise fundamentals of marksmanship and incorporate range estimation, wind and elevation adjustment to engage target from close proximity to 600 yards/m.
  • Move undetected, in urban or rural terrain, under observation, to a concealed firing position and refine hide/firing position.

  • Sniper rifle with magnified optic and 400 rounds of match grade ammunition
  • Bipod
  • Rear bag/sand sock
  • Binoculars/Monocular
  • Rifle drag bag
  • Rifle cleaning kit (including tools for rifle and optic)
  • Note taking materials/DOPE book
  • Calculator
  • Hearing protection
  • Tactical kit (battle-belt, load carrying vest, chest rig, etc)
  • Tactical uniforms/training appropriate clothing and footwear
  • Rain gear
  • Cold weather gear (seasonal)
  • Water source
  • Sun screen
  • Ball cap or Boonie

OPTIONAL (but highly encouraged)

  • Spotting scope
  • Laser range finder
  • Tripod with rifle support (HOG Saddle)
  • Ghillie suit
  • Weather meter (Kestrel)
