BUILDING CLEARING TACTICS INSTRUCTOR (BCTI)
3-Day Course • 21 Minnesota POST credits
This instructor-level course provides foundational knowledge of tactical movements for clearing buildings and other structures, while also equipping participants to teach these tactics within their agencies. Students will learn how to safely and efficiently search for suspects while limiting exposure to threats, using methods adapted from Tier 1 special operations and optimized for law enforcement. These tactics have been successfully applied in burglaries, search warrants, slow tactical searches, and hostage rescue, resulting in enhanced officer safety and reduced liability.
BCTI is designed for patrol officers, tactical teams, specialty units, and task forces. Participants will not only refine their individual tactical skills but will also develop effective methods for instructing others. The course emphasizes knowledge transfer, scenario design, and instructional techniques that allow agencies to create their own training programs. Students will receive training materials, customizable lesson plans, presentations, and scenario templates.
Agencies are encouraged to send at least two officers to maximize team performance and training outcomes. BCTI enhances both the tactical proficiency and teaching ability of all participants.
