INTRODUCTORY DRONE COURSE

1-Day Course • 7 Minnesota POST credits

This introductory course examines the most important laws, applications, and safety protocols for first responder drone programs. It is designed to help agencies establish a new drone program from the ground up or improve their existing program. Attendees will leave with a firm understanding of tactics, techniques, and procedures for drone management and implementation.

Instruction emphasizes communication, situational awareness, and practical policy considerations to ensure your team can operate safely, effectively, and within the law.

Course Objectives

  • Understand FAA waivers and regulations, Part 107 vs. COA
  • Learn drone terminology and key implementation considerations
  • Know when and when not to fly
  • Conduct hardware and software orientation
  • Improve communication and situational awareness during operations
  • Review policy considerations and sample templates
  • Understand drone functions and capabilities
