Firearms Instructor Course
During this 5-day course, students will learn the fundamentals of firearms instruction. This course will provide the most effective techniques for handgun and rifle operation. Additionally, students will learn repeatable strategies for instruction that those officers can bring back to their agencies.
This course will include fundamentals and elements of shooting, lesson plans, the SAFE (sight alignment by feel exercise) series, and techniques for effectively teaching others. Topics will include loading and unloading, drawing from a duty holster and re-holstering, tactical ready positions, various types of reloads, clearing malfunctions, one-handed shooting with weapon and reaction hand, transitions from rifle to pistol, positional shooting, weapons maintenance, and equipment selection for multiple weapon systems.
This small group environment will include instruction by demonstration, lecture and coaching, as well as live fire drills and a qualification live fire exercise. Students will conduct teach backs, learn to run the firing line, and give a brief presentation during the course.
