This intensive instructor-level course develops the knowledge and skills necessary to teach handgun operation effectively within your agency. Students will build a strong foundation in firearms instruction through a balance of live fire, lecture, coaching, and teach-back exercises. The small group environment ensures personalized feedback and maximum skill development.
Topics include loading and unloading, drawing and re-holstering, tactical ready positions, reloads, clearing malfunctions, one-handed shooting, positional shooting, weapons maintenance, and equipment selection. Students will also learn instructional strategies such as the SAFE (sight alignment by feel exercise) series, lesson planning, running a firing line, and delivering effective presentations.
