This practical course is designed for officers who are new to Investigations (within their first 2 years) or those considering applying for an Investigations position. The training provides essential foundational skills and resources that every new investigator needs to succeed.

FEATURED INSTRUCTOR: Corey Schneck – Detective, Shakopee Police Department

Detective Schneck brings over 20 years of law enforcement experience to the classroom, with more than 16 years of specialized investigative expertise. His unique background began as a commercial airline pilot before pivoting to law enforcement following the events of September 11, 2001. After completing training at Metropolitan State University in conjunction with the St. Paul Police Academy, he joined the Shakopee Police Department in 2003 where he quickly distinguished himself.

Since moving to Investigations in 2007, Detective Schneck has established himself as an authority in complex cases including sexual assault, child exploitation, homicide, and financial crimes. His exceptional case clearance record and courtroom testimony skills have made him a valued asset in high-profile prosecutions throughout the region. He holds a master’s degree in Forensic Mental Health from Concordia University, adding advanced behavioral analysis expertise to his investigative toolkit.

Beyond his casework, Detective Schneck has been sharing his knowledge as an instructor at Rasmussen University since 2010, serving in leadership roles including Lead Instructor and developing specialized curriculum for new investigators. His teaching approach combines academic rigor with street-level practicality, making him particularly effective at preparing patrol officers for the transition to investigations.
