3-Day Course – Students will learn the fundamentals of firearms instruction. This course will provide the most effective techniques for rifle operation. Additionally, students will learn repeatable strategies for instruction that those officers can bring back to their agencies.

This course is approved for 21 Minnesota POST credits.  This course will include fundamentals and elements of shooting, lesson plans, transition drills, and techniques for effectively teaching others. Topics will include equipment selection and maintenance, zeroing, skill-building drills, tactical ready positions, shooting on the move, positional shooting, reloads, malfunction clearance, and more.

This small group environment will include instruction by demonstration, lecture and coaching, as well as live fire drills and a qualification live fire exercise. Students will conduct teach backs, learn to run the firing line, and give a brief presentation during the course.

What to bring:

  • Body armor
  • 1,000 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition
  • Rifle, with sling, and at least three magazines
  • Duty pistol, with 50 rounds of ammunition
  • Duty belt or Load Bearing Vest
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Extra batteries for equipment
