2-Day Course – Students will learn innovative, effective techniques for firearms manipulation and marksmanship under low light environmental conditions.

This course is approved for 14 Minnesota POST credits.

Working in darkness presents a unique set of challenges, but pairing sound fundamentals with effective illumination techniques provides officers an undeniable advantage. This course will focus and build on the topics of practical weapon handling, light use, mobility, and functional equipment selection/setup. The instruction and exercises will improve participants’ skills in weapon handling and use of firearms in conjunction with flashlight/weapon light techniques, but it is far more than a shooting class!

Students will learn skills and techniques, reinforce good habits through repetition in live-fire drills, and affirm the effectiveness of these techniques through practical application. Course exercises are designed to enhance cognitive performance through improved threat perception and response. This unconventional method of instruction has been proven to enhance students’ skill retention and ability to apply the principles learned in dynamic real-world scenarios.

This is not an instructor-specific course, but participants will learn effective training methods while maximizing ammunition usage and range time.
